Fall Leaf Monogram
I saw the dollar store fall wreath that was posted over at Thrifty Decorating. And I really don’t have that many decorations for fall, so I decided that I wanted to do something similar, just with a different spin. I started with a piece of foamcore from the Dollar Tree, as well as 6 packs of leaves from there.
To see how I went about making my W shape you can click on the tutorial I posted earlier here. I made my W here exactly the same way I made the S in the Crepe Paper Rose Monogram. I just prefer a more three dimensional look. If you want a flat wreath, you can skip the tutorial and just cut it out of foam core.
So once I used my packing tape and left over foam on my W, I was ready to start hot gluing. And gluing. And gluing. You get the idea. I started by tightly attaching my first layer of leaves. I guess you could skip this step, but I didn’t want to see my packing tape and foam cushion mess underneath, so I put a dab of glue on each point of the leaf until it was completely covered.
It really didn’t look that bad at this point and I probably could have considered it finished, but I wanted a fuller, fluffier look. So then I went through and loosely attached my leaves going from bottom to top. I only put one little dab of glue on each leaf at the part where a stem would come out on a real leaf and let the rest just kind of hang freely.
That’s it. I spent $7 on leaves and on the foam core, and ended up with a good size monogram. It was over two feet in size. It would have cost much more in the stores!

this is really cute and creative. I like the quot;differencequot; of it compaired to the standard fall stuff.
